I thought id show a few photos of my compost heap just to see what you all thought. Its not perfect but it works for me. The green bin is a 330l one

Heres the second bin. Its 470l. The lid wasnt a great fit so I use a sheet of old plywood that I had lying around.

And the last one. This is a photo of the grass heap. Its left there to rot and I take handfuls of it and add it to the bins as necassery.

Heres a fresh bucket of material. I uaually put eggshells, cabbage leaves and stalks, potatoe skins and plants, banana skins and a small amount of grass, paper and cardboard. Feel free to leave comments or questions.

I harvested one of my compost bins at the weekend and was delighted with the results. I ended up using it on some flower beds and Ive started refilling the compost bin again. Im going to experiment this time by putting 3 or 4 inches of twigs and leaves in the base of the compost heap to see if it helps air to circulate around the base of the compost.

It did, I got over two wheelbarrowfuls from it and the bin wasn't even full. I've got a second bin as well but I'm going to leave it for a while cause there's a potato plant growing on the top of the compost.
