Hey all.
I have a particular weed which is appearing everywhere around the garden. it's very difficult to hand weed and it spreads like mad. hoe'ing useless as the plant just get flipped in the soil and lands in another area of the plot. if you were to hand weed you'd be at it all day. how can i completely eradicate this stuff?

The pic is not great but it looks like chickweed Id rather have this growing than a lot of other types as it is easy to remove by pulling.

The bane of my life too.... it's hairy bittercress. Apparently most commonly introduced into a garden when you buy in plants from a garden centre....the seeds come in in the compost. Awful little pest.

Nope, that's Hairy Bittercress alright.
The seeds spring all over the place when they're ripe.
I have it in my garden and it's a curse. It grows, flowers and turns to seed while your back is turned for a minute. I kid you not. It's nice looking but EVIL!

The only way to control this awful weed is constant vigilance, to hoe it/pull it up before it flowers. Unlike other weeds it seems to be able to flower and fire its seeds everywhere when still quite tiny. I did well one year with a good mulch of garden compost which suppressed it.. Absolutely no doubt that it is Hairy Bittercress.

Maxol, Texaco, Shell. Only joking!
Seriously, any glyphospate weedkiller will do, such as Roundup, Touchdown etc.
Hoeing might be an answer, though. Bittercress is also taking over in my garden.
AND it has a brain or its fallen brethen are able to communicate their distress after they're ripped from the ground because subsequent ones grow smaller, faster, flower, and seed, way faster. Ones in a different section of the garden where I haven't weeded them take their time to go to seed and are much bigger, greener plants. Ones that come up again in a weeded area definitely mature to seed in a fraction of the time. I'm not nuts: there's some sort of communication going on.
