i planted rose bushes 2 years ago for the first time didnt realised that its not getting enough sun where i planted and planning to move them. when is the bst time to move them? do i have to wait in autumn?

Always wait until the autumn before transplanting anything. You need to wait until your plants are dormant (no longer growing); this will reduce any stress on your roses.
They are only 2 years in the ground so they won't have developed any long or deep roots, so transplanting should be easy.
2 weeks before transplanting dig a trench around each plant 1 foot deep, this process will 'prune' the plant's roots and allow it to recover before you transplant them.
Prepare the new position before lifting your plants. If possible add 2 shovels of well rotted farm yard manure to each planting hole.
Do transplanting on a dull, damp day (thats the easy part) and water in well. |
