Hi,
Please forgive me - IO know nothinbg about gardening#!!
I recently had to replace some pipes running through my lawn. After doing so and clearing all the rubble from digging, I got a load of topsoil, levelled, raked and picked it ready for reseeding.
I was going to give it a light roll just to get the seeds in full contact with the soil but had to leave the country for a few days. I then asked my friend to roll it as I believed he had a hand roller - he however rolled using a sit-on roller - granted a small one but much larger than the hand one.
After the very heavy rain lastnight there is one or two puddles in the newly-sown soil and I'm now worried that the seeds will either be too wet or unable to root properly.
In fairness I thought it would have held more water, so maybe its not too bad, but any advice on what I should do - or not - would be greatly appreciated.
I was thinking maybe a few sticks of a fork in the small puddles might just do.
Incidentally, the seeds were only planted on over the weekend. It was rolled on monday.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, welcome to IG.
Everything will probably be OK but a few prods of a fork wouldn't do any harm. Best advice would be to wait and see. I didn't realise you could get a sit on roller for a garden _________________ Xeyedsheep |
