Hello,

I'm new here so hopefully this will work ok for me.

I'm looking for advice on an indoor plant that was bought for me a few years ago. I think its a dragon tree. Initially it was about 2ft inn height but noe is close to 6 ft. Its getting to the stage where its going to be too big for my house.
I'm worried about cutting it in case I damage it and also worried about putting it in the garden as I would hate to see it die on me. I've had it so long now I'm very attached to it.

Can someone offer any advise on this?

Thanks for your help,
FrankBlack

I would refrain from putting the dragon plant outside (cold damage) and instead prune it for indoors. Prune branches in spring (late April/May), it will then usually produce two shoots just below your pruning cut.

Thanks a million verge.

When pruning do you cut just above the actual branch attaches to the main body of the tree or perhaps a few inches down from the end of the branch where the leaves are situated?

I tried pruning a bush before and the leaves/branches never grew back.

Either really.

This may result in a wider finished plant due to branch, on branch, on stem.

This may result in a narrower frame due to branch on stem.

Rememeber to feed and water the plant if needed after pruning to induce regrowth. Good luck.
