I know there are a lot of articles out there about growing garlic, but this is my first time and I'm a bit confused about when to harvest them.

I saw an article on this site that said when the leaves are 1/3 yellow - does this mean the plant as a whole or if each leaf is 1/3 yellow?

On another site it said about a month after the scapes appeared. - Mine just appeared an got promptly harvested and eaten so do I wait a month before harvesting?

I'm pretty confused maybe someone can help me.

For me, Garlic is ready for harvesting as soon as the foliage starts to die back. The dying back process usually sparks off re-sprouting in the ground which can lead to problems when storing your garlic.
