Hardy plants for wall in back garden

Hi there,

I would like some info on what plants/shrubs/trees/climbers would be good to grow against the back wall of my garden. They need to be hardy as the back garden is my son's football ground!! I was thinking maybe bamboo?

The wall is south west facing.

Really what you are looking for here are plants that will flex rather than snap when hit with a ball.
Try the following.

Tall.
Bamboo.
Phormium tenax.
Osier willow (Salix viminalis)

Smaller.
Phormiums, the hybrid forms.
Dogwoods.
