Hi Gardeners
I'm completely new to gardening.
At the beginning of the week I decided to try my hand at planting a few vegetables to see how I'd get on so I sowed some radish, carrot and lettuce in a couple of pots on the windowsill. All good.
But as I saw the first shoots of the radish plants appear, a strange thing happened to me and before I knew what was happening I was rummaging through all of the presses, cupboards and drawers to see what else I could use as a planting receptacle. I ended up with seeds planted in lunchboxes, plastic bottles, a chicken tray, a pot and even a box of Coors light!
Needless to say, I think I've found my new favourite hobby haha _________________ The man who says it cant be done should not interrupt the man who is already doing it. |

Thanks Sive.
Keeping sane in this mad world is a bit of a tall order but we'll see how gardening manages the job . _________________ The man who says it cant be done should not interrupt the man who is already doing it. |

Mark,
People come at gardening from all angles. You got a niche product here and you picked the best gardening forum possibly in the world. Keep it tended (the garden and the forum). let the seedlings get the sun. From the moment you dropped the first seed, you became a gardener. Don't forget the watering now. More stuff dies of drought than from any other cause. Enjoy your first salad. _________________ Retired trouble-maker. twitters @walltoall and dreams of being promoted to Pedunculate Oaker. |

Hey walltoall,
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have found this site to be a great resource so far and all of the members are very helpful.
My Ice King lettuces have started to sprout and I've also planted spring onions, mixed lettuce and mung beans in a jar.
My girlfriend is delighted as she is a regular salad eater and very soon she'll have a cornucopia of freshly grown produce! _________________ The man who says it cant be done should not interrupt the man who is already doing it. |
