Have noticed the last couple of days that something has been eating the leafs on my runner beans, but can't seem to find what it is. Any ideas or help ?

looks like slug damage, very hard to find the culprits, they eat by night and hide close by during the day.

I usually combat slugs with a torch and a scissors. Simply head out after dusk and take a look by torchlight at what is eating your plants.
If it's slugs, use the scissors!!!
I find this better than beer traps.

I've caught slugs redhanded eating my rhubarb leaves and daffodil leaves two nights ago. They'll eat anything green!

I find beer traps great - emptied 30+ slugs this morning! Leave them some shelter beside it and leave a small stick in it to give beetles etc. a way out

will the plants bounce back do you think, they are still growing strong about 2 in. a day, once you get them trained on the pole they realy fly. Took a bit of a battering the last few days with stiff south westerley's, rain and hale crazy weather. So its out with the torch to night and see if there's any action going on.
thanks all.
stonehead.
