I have finally got my new polytunnel up but now I haven't a clue what to do .I germinated chillies (De Cayenne) Peppers (Mr. Fothergills) and tomatoes ( Mr. Fothergills Moneymaker and Chelsea mini F1) a while back in non heated propagators on all my south facing window sills and then transplanted them into individual pots,at the minute the Chillies/peppers are about 2 inches with approx 5-6 leaves and the tomatoes are approx 8 inches high.
What my plans are is to make (2) 12 x 2.5 ft beds in the tunnel using the soil in the garden and not grow bags and my question is do I have to harden these plants off for a while before I put them out into the tunnel or can they go straight out,and would it be advisable to maybe cover them at night with a fleece until the warmer weather comes (tunnel is not heated).
I mentioned the varieties I have planted so that hopefully some of the users may have used them before and can tell me how they got on with them. |

put them into the tunnel and cover with fleece for a week to 10 days. The tunnel should be able to maintain a sufficient rise in temperature from now on for most crops to grow. during very warm days ventilate the tunnel.

I put my plants straight into the tunnel about 3 weeks ago and haven't had any problems with them, I didn't bother hardening them off.
I only lost one tomatoe and that was to a slug or something,I had them in pots on the windowsils before then _________________ there are 3 types of people in the world, those that can count and those that can't... |

What did the plants do to the windows? Were you watering with a pressure hose or something? |
