I bought one of those mushroom growing kits from Aldi and within 2 1/2wks I had my first good size crop. Since then I have had nuthn growing in it and its been about 2wks. I have it in a dark press thats not near any heat but the box today was very fried out. Do I need to water it or moisten it at all,the instructions never said anything about that. Its my first time growing them so I am a little unsure.. Thanks _________________ I grow veg but I dont eat them!!! or fruit.... |

congratulations on getting a crop of mushrooms from one of those growing kits. This is the first time i ever heard of one being successful. The growing of mushrooms is a highly complex business. The spawn (seed) is put into the compost when the temperature is right and the moisture content correct. As soon as the spawn begins to run or new fungus roots develop, but not before, some compost cover or casing is added to the top of the compost. keep moist and at an even temperature. Mushrooms should appear after 3-4 weeks.
