|
|
Hi Guys
Can anybody point me in the right direction to were l could buy some giant vegetable seeds. Have found a few places in the uk but have not found any here in lreland.
Have spent the last 3 months building an allotment for my local school and wanted to show the kids how big cabbages and carrots can grow.
lf l over feed some of my vegetables would that make them over grow a bit?
Many thanks

Courgettes are a good place to start. The seeds are large and the plants are very prolific. Plus if you leave them on the vine for too long they grow into huge marrows. You can get green, yellow, stripey ones. _________________ irishkitchengarden.blogspot.com |

Fair play for doing this.
would have preferred this to maths lessons when I was in school.

It may a bit, however you could end up burning them through overfertilisation.
better to go with seed bred to grow huge instead....

are you looking for seeds of giant vegetables or giant seeds of vegetables? there is a difference. Giant vegetables can often be produced from ordinary varieties by treating them to very good feeding and management. Special varieties that are grown for exhibition or large size can be had from seed houses specialising in those types.

Hi Michael
Am looking for seeds that produce large vegetables for exhibition. Will have a go at also giving extra feed to some of my cabbages and lettuces.

over feeding or overly rich soil will cause exosmosis, leading to wilting, the plants will only grow according to their genetic code, and their maximum potential within that is reached by optimal weather and soil conditions,

Ian. |
