My goal is to provide a wind screen across 40meters. I plan to use Alnus Cordata (Italian Alder) and have been offerred trees that are already 6-7 meters tall. I am looking for advice on the required spacing tree to tree. |

According to the "Royal Horticultural Society" your Alnus Cordata can grow up to 30m and can have a spread of up to 22.5m,that brings it down to 11m either side (provided it reaches that spread) I'd say 4/5m apart would suffice depending on how tight you want the screen.

Thanks Dave....I was advised 1.5m apart and my initial impression was that this was way too close together considering the final size thay can grow to. Initially I had 3m apart in my mind and I think that will provide a tight enough screen and I will stick with it. Cheers for the input. |
