My blackcurrant bush is starting to wither back for winter and I was wondering when and how much I should cut it back. |

it all depends on how old the bushes are. Young bushes that have been pruned at planting time can remain unpruned for 2-3 years. Older bushes should have one third of their number of branches cut back close to ground level, removing as much as possible of the older wood (dark brown or black in colour). Encourage further growth by manuring well with compost or animal manure.
