Hi All,
I've just moved into a new house , I have a 4ft strip by the drive about 120 ft long which I intend to plant with some evergreen shrubs like buxus sempervirens and similar. I will be filling inside the kerbs with top soil with a covering of geo textile to stop weeds coming through with a covering of some type of pebble stone
I would like to know what type of evergreen shrubs go nicely together . I'm open to suggestions on planting schemes formal or informal grouping . As i'm a complete novice I'd like to know when to plant also.
Please see attached photos

Hi ,
Between 6 and 8ft in height would be good I think . I was thinking of maybe a spacing between shrubs/ groups of shrubs of about 6-8ft also as I dont want a hedge effect .
Thanks. |

There are different viburnums and pittosporums which may suit your needs..... also holly, euonymus and aucuba.
Pyracantha and cotoneaster would give you winter berries ( until the birds eat them ! ) but the pyracantha has spines, so you may not want that if people could be brushing up against it......
If you do your research now and plant your shrubs in the autumn/early winter, it will save you having to water them and they will have settled in by the time the growing season starts. |
