My second early potatoes were infested with wireworm and slugs. There still seems to be a lot of wire worms in the soil even though the potatoes have been harvested. Is there any way to get rid of these pests. |

it is unusual to have both wireworms and slugs occurring at the same time but has happened especially after land that has been in grass for a long number of years.
Crops such as peas and beans are not liked by wireworms and so should be the first crop after grass.
for best control dig well before sowing and planting crops and leave exposed so that birds can pick them up, dig every 5-6 weeks if possible. in the past chemical means of control were possible but no longer. Wireworms are far more serious in main crops than in early crops.
