Hi,
I'm new to this forum but have been on it almost every day for the last month researching all things to do with poly tunnels. I live in suburbia and have been enjoying my three little raised beds for the past five years. The husband and I decided however to take the plunge and attempt to grow as much of our own veg as possible. We just bought a 14ft by 30ft tunnel which takes up about half of our north facing sloping garden. I turned our boiler house into a dark germinating room with heater and thermometer and after only three days the lettuce and spring greens are through. I'm really excited about our new adventure and am grateful to have the support and guidance of you all at Irish Gardeners

Hi JaneMaeve, I'm new too! I'm thinking of buying a polytunnel too. I have been looking on Polydome's web site. Where did you get yours and would you recommend them?

Esthalon, I bought our tunnel on line at first tunnels. I would recommend them. The tunnel seems to be of great quality and reasonably priced (€1000 including anchor plates, extra height, hotspot tape, delivery and two doors). It arrived promptly with a free book on growing in a polytunnel and a tea bag, so's to have a cuppa while reading the (very clear) instructions!
Huge amount of digging to put it up but am thrilled with it! Am having a problem uploading photos onto computer at the moment but when I sort that out I would love to post some.

hello everone, I also am new and on the lookout for a poly tunnel, as i am a carer and funds are limited, i am wndering if locating all the bits is asking for trouble, we have the bit of land, surounded by various bushes and thingies. any practical advice, I have the metal tubing for supports, all advice welcome. we live in roscommon.

i have found a lot of the fun of gardening is the sourcing and building things from old bits and pieces.i have made some raised beds from scaffold planks and benches from old deck boards pallets etc.last year i built a polyhouse from timber and got the proper polythene from colm warren polyhouses.they will supply to the measurements you need and they send it by courier.i think they are in meath but if you google colm warren polyhouses you will get the information you need.happy planting

thanks forester for the intel, scary it is, I would love to be where you r with your stuff, I was cought up with my service as a carer, things are quiter finally, so it is down to me, either I get it together, or I keep cutting grass for ever,and ever and ever, my problem if I am honest is that I hate gardening, really, getting a polly tunnel is one way of useing up some of the space, the price of a thousand euro a throw for a tunnel is a lot. I am in the process of sourcing the bits, however there is a lot of digging first, or at the same time as my scavaging, any ideas as to the best/easiest/easiest way todig the thing, other than blood sweat and tears, or is that the only way. Apart from the useual implements, is there a gadget out there that would make my life easy. what dept did you dig too, did you use a liner, and fill with compost, so many questions , so little time.

I would love to see some pics if you have them.

This is where we got ours. Its based in Belfast but we were lucky and they delivered the same day as we ordered. Obviously they had a delivery already but it was lovely to get the service.

i didnt dig at all as i made a timber frame and attached the plastic to it.the beds inside are raised so i didnt dig that either.i am a bit of a lazy gardener i have to admit.i always try to find the easy option.
