How would you recommend multi - stemming Cordyline Australis?
Saw the main stem off at the base? Is it OK if the stem has no leaves on it after the dastardly operation?
Or wait till it's a bit higher and saw the stem off about 5 feet from the ground?
I think I would like the two Australis ones, that I have, to be bushier. I have an Indivisa but I'll leave that to be single stemmed.
Or is it better to saw straight through the rosette of leaves instead? _________________ .

I would wait till spring befour you cut it,Cut it under where the leaves are already, the taller the better, and keep the cut bit dry so it doesent rot,it will multy shoot to maybe four heads, and will look fantastic, even the head you cut off if planted will grow.but dont do it now. |

Thanks David.
Didn't know about (or even think about! ) planting their heads. I would have just lobbed them over the neighbour's wall (where all my uprooted weeds end their orbits! ) _________________ .

You mean that you can divide cordyline by cutting one leaf at the base and putting it in the soil? They are that hardy? I thought they would just rot. |
