As of right now I'm drinking MY whisky with scottish shortbread. I can't believe the ways they have of putting your life in danger. This is FAR worse than drowning

Thanks for the article which looks legit but when investigated further proves that wikipedia is valuable for common knowledge discovery. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dihydrogen_monoxide_hoax

Actually there's not one untruth in the article.

It just shows how people can slavishly follow a bandwagon without doing independent reasoning.

The current bandwagon is "global warming" due to carbon dioxide from cars etc. giving governments "reasons" to raise taxes. In fact the biggest danger is the cutting down of an enormous percentage of wooded areas across the globe. But to protest against this is a no-no because those countries benefit financially from it. Mad Mad Mad

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now. Wink

Greetings kindred spirit.
I want to hop on the soap-box you've just vacated for a moment. In Trafalgar Square last Thursday, I saw precisely what cutting down our hardwood forest does. I also saw the effects of dihydrogen monoxide in a big wind. They had to turn off the fountains as everyone was getting drownded but that's for another day.

There was on (artistic) display the trunk and roots of a 130 yo mahogany [legitimately] cut in Ghana. The artist had been allowed to dig up the stump and convey it [legitimately ] to London. The mahogany was just one of a number of different stumps most of which I'd never even heard of. It was the closest I ever came to the true cause of global man-made warming. I reckon there was enough mahogany in the stump to build the frame of a house. Anybody else want kindredspirit's soap-box now I'm done with it?
