I couldn't agree more about the Roger Deakin book,I read it recently, and was so sad when I came to the end of it......he was an amazing man, a unique character.

I have also really enjoyed two books by Ken Thompson: a small paperback called "No Nettles Required; The truth about Wildlife Gardening"
READ it....it will open your eyes about the life teeming in our gardens, and will give you even greater respect for nature.Also great for lazy gardeners, as you learn that less interference is usually good for wildlife!!!

I'm sorry knievel, I noticed the Deakin book first and would have to admit I didn't read the other links as carefully.....maybe because there were no authors' names in the other links, they just didn't catch my eye in the same way
In the circumstances I think you could have done a lot more than cough gently too ! You are a true (gardening) gentleman, as I would expect on this website!
