My father in law has a small town garden and cuts the grass with a flymo. Every now and again he puts bolts into the blade and uses it as a sort of scarifier. This has worked fairly well for him.

My problem is I have a ride on and would not be able to change the blades to handily so I was wondering could I leave the bolts in the blade for every cut or would it be to severe on the lawn.

Hi I would agree that the scarifier is the business for getting rid of the moss. I bring the moss to the recycling centre then and recycle it as green waste. I have a big lawn and would not use fertilizer on it as it leads to too much mowing. I have found that the lawn will generally have recovered itself in about a week after scarifying.
