....or you could buy a dwarfing rootstock and graft a scion from the old tree onto it, thereby starting off afresh! Incidentally, a thirteen-year -old apple tree is far away from being an old tree. Even a tree on the very dwarfing rootstocks will continue to crop well for far longer than this.

Picked last from my Katja this evening. Final tally for the tree: 45kgs of saleable apples and approx 30kgs for the cider bucket. And all without one grain of fertilizer nor one drop of spray of any kind. I think I'll plant a couple more of them! Very Happy
