stachys (sp?) - the one commonly known as rabbit's ears.
i hacked 75% off mine this morning, but i'm sure it'll be back in full force next year. it's a bully, plus when the leaves decay, they look awful.

"Gardeners' Garters" ( Phalaris arundinacea Picta ).....a gorgeous variegated grass that I mistakenly planted in a garden of mine years ago. Disaster ! It runs and runs and I grew to dislike it intensely.....I'm sure it would have gone right through the garden if I'd allowed it to.
So be warned.

Pheasant berry, It stangles it's neighbours for half the year and just when you think it's under control and are beginning to like it, it dies down and disappears leaving a tangle of horrid hollow stems Rolling Eyes

Oh dear! I planted a Pheasant Berry this year, but I have it against a fence as a stand-alone shrub, nothing to strangle..... but I'll watch it more carefully now!!!

Me too, I planted 30 of them, alternative green and gold to form a hedge. I wanted something more interesting than leylandi that would withstand the wind. It does seem to have grown quickly, I bought them in 3" pots in March and they are now 18" - 24" high. They are not near other plants, so I suppose they can only strangle each other!
