I have a gorgeous calathea plant that seems to be doing very well. The problem is, one of it's largest leaves was torn when I bought it. Should I remove the leaf and if so, how should I do it? It looks a bit ragged, but otherwise quite healthy.
Thanks. |

Hi Niamho, welcome to the forum. I have a calathea that I tidy up regularly. Just cut out the leaf as far down the stalk as you can. More leaves will grow from the bottom. |

Thanks so much for the reply Garlicbreath. Just wanted to clarify before I butcher my plant; do you mean just snip the leaf off where it meets the stem or go right down and cut the stem off too? When I follow the stem down, there are a few other healthy leaves coming out of it. Thanks again.

No probs Niamho, cut off as much of the stem as you can without damaging the emerging leaves. |
