Some of you may remember me by my last post about eradicating reeds. Well, I've weed whacked the most of them to the quick and have planted some shrubs in the easy Irish way - picked out the stones and put in shrubs where there was a big hole! Not quite the best methods when it will come to running a mower over the lawn! I also am of the gardening sort - a collector of exotic, hard to find and grow plants - rather than designing from a plan - well, let nature and its survival mechanism - determine the outcome. I'm always willing to learn from what makes good companion plants, so think that whatever happens, it can be improved upon by getting a good aesthetic paring of rocks and flora.
Well, here's a video of my dream garden and the reality on youtube:
Then end part is what the garden looks like. Perhaps someone might recommend how to edge a square garden patch with a stream on the left. Please give me a list of your favourite must have plants and I will continue to blog with what I've put in with pics.

You possibly have an incredible opportunity with a stream running alongby.
Is it possible to dam the stream, bringing the water level up to the same level as the garden, without upsetting farmers behind you?
If you can, then you can make any of the following possibilities;
stream through garden winding its way back to its original course
bog plant area
pond
series of ponds
natural waterfall feature
If you can make use of this natural water source in any way, then I would do that and design the garden around it first before planting plants willy-nilly.

Right click piccie in flickr, click properties, highlight URL, press Ctrl and "C" at the same time and then paste into your post, then put behind.

Admin help. I'm trying to use Dreamweaver code as editing to align photo within the post. As you can see, I'm struggling with the editor to get that to work. Any ideas how to fix? I'm used to using joomla or drupal editors. Thanks.

Here is a video of the list of shrubs which were recommended to plant with their names. I've put in 3 gunneras which I think some people detest. Though they fit with the scale of the surrounding landscape and will serve to deter some of the encroachment of weeds from the fields. Also included are some pics from my own garden of hydrangeas in bloom and my favorite double lilly. I agree that the lacecaps are dainty and not as blowsy, though I'm also partial to the tight and candle like blooms of this other variety.
