In the past few days we lifted onions because we notice one had some rot on the base. I think now it was a false alarm but it will leave the bed open now for new planting. Any suggestions on what can be planted after onions at this time of year? |

You could sow carrots, chard, kohl-rabi or late peas (choose a dwarf first early variety like Kelvedon Wonder), or you could plant winter cabbages (like January King) or Kale.... the choice is yours. |

Yes, I was reading the other day that a quick rule of thumb is to go with the root veg - I didn't realise cabbage was also a possibility - are other brassicas too? _________________ Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. I'm digging up some early spuds soon and putting in the leeks. Maybe if you have some to thin out, you could put a row in.... _________________ if you are interested in raised vegetable beds and veggie growing I have a new website - raisedbeds.net We're busy on social networking too and have over 12,000 members in the group. |
