Hi

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to where I could get my hand on some coated rigid wire mesh.
2"X2"
I have used something like it before for covering a smaller pond, and found it very good to protect the fish rather than net.

It would be something along the lines of a fence panel. it would need to be in sections of about 10foot.

I have netting on the pond at the moment, but mr herron was around again yesterday morning. and i would feel a lot safer with metal netting

all ideas appreciated

Hi Belfast

Its kinda like that mesh that I am looking for except rigid. I want to be able to lift it on and off for maintenance.

The ones i used on the old pond were about 2 foot by 4 foot, and i had supports in, so i could just move them over each other or take them off. But i would need bigger than that for the new pond. But I cant seem to find any supplier in Ireland.

any ideas?

Builders suppliers have that new type green plastic coated fence panels that seems to be replacing palisade fencing everywhere. Attach a length of stainless steel wire to a small boat trailer winch and it would be a doddle to wind up and down.

It would certainly be heron and child proof.

Thanks for the replies,

Yep its that stuff im after, but have to try to find it with square gaps in between.

Found it was great for supporting some of the taller reeds etc.

It was actually that particular fencing that gave me the idea ( its in the car park in work).

I might try the local builders providers tomorrow and see can they suggest anywhere

Tried the builders providers at the weekend. He knew exactly what I was looking for, but didnt supply anything like it, or knew where to look.

we were contemplaiting checking with a steel works, but it will probably be very expensive, and also wouldnt be plastic covered, which probably isnt safe for the fish.

anyone else any ideas?
