Hello.
I am about to turn a part of my lawn into a flower bed…. What is the best way to prepare this area? i.e. to remove the grass and prepare the soil. I am thinking of planting box hedging and boarder plants.
Want a weed and grass free area so any advice greatly appreciated...

The bed will wrap around a fountain (see attached pic)… so it will be a circumference of approx 4metre. I am thinking of a star shape with rounded corners for ease of mowing, but I am undecided of what to plant… I will read through your Planting perennial borders. as it looks great!!!

Very swish fountain Very Happy DamoH. Ease of mowing and star shapes are not something I would put together. Maybe try to mow a star shape around the fountain and see how you get on. That may make up you mind.
