'Smorning out early with my noo camara, I came across this. looks like it might be an orchid. Picture shows only a small section of the complete specimen which had about a dozen blooming branches (bet there's a pun in there somewhere) but I can't show you the whole plant until I read Verge's article on shrinking pictures. The plant was growing on dry 'heathland' (formerly a landfill site) in the company of irises, brooms, vetches, comfreys, horse radishes.
Identity?

What a great flower! It might be a wild pea, but considering where you saw it, there's a strong possibility that it could be a tuberous vetchling (Lathyrus tuberosus).

Thank you friends; two interesting options for me to follow up. I'm fascinated by the tuberous possibility. Here's another from the same area which by coincidence was pictured in last Saturday's Times but not attributed. The quality has had to to be reduced from 4M to get it to load.

Direct hit "Her Outdoors"
Lysimachia punctata-Yellow Loosestrife .
Gimme a name and I can find anything.
Fascinating and brief article on the exact plant at
paulparent.com under perennials. Thanks many.
It's a truly spectacular show in a wild meadow.

Same family as the Creeping jenny that you see cascading out of so many hanging baskets. Who would have thunk it.

Just to note any of you who have Creeping jenny in baskets, that you can plant it in your garden after the basket is finished or pot it up for use again next season.
