What tree would survive?

I live in the sunny south east, but unfortunately it is very windy. I have purchased to very large pots and would like some ideas on what to put in same. They are approx. 70cm wide, and 60cm high. The pots will be positioned at the front of the house which is a distance from the road. I have 2 bay trees planted nearby so bays are out. Too windy for acers, and do not want something like the bay in shape ( 6ft). Also I would like an evergreen.
Tough I know, I have been racking my brain. Phoenix will not survive the winds.

I have box hedging in pots outside my front door which faces due east. They are evergreen and old fashioned and don't need too much care.

Mostly Latin names. Google them, get pictures and know that what you see is what you get. The lists below are TOTALLY BULLETPROOF.

Anaphalis triplinervis, Atriplex halimus, Cordyline australis, Eleagnus (all varieties), Escalonia, Hippophae rhamnoldes, Olearia (all varieties), Pittosporum crassifolium and tobira, Rosa rugosa (all varieties), Senecio, Pinus thunbergii, Alnus (alder is NOT evergreen), Arbutus unedo rubra (the Killarney strawberry tree(also not evergreen), Sorbus varieties but avoid ' vilmorinii ' .

In acid soil camellias are mostly very hardy. Sea holly and sea buckthorn will handle seaside beltings. Euonymus (the spindle) is hardy and evergreen. Ditto Euporbia, Fuschia, many Hebe varities.
