I put this up on my blog and was amazed at the reaction to the post, it really captured everyones imagination. I had read about it somewhere sometime and always meant to try it, I got a lot of pots from one of my daughters doing a shed clearout and decided to try it.
You need four terracotta pots in different sizes and a metal rod to support them. I got the rod in B&Q for 3.85e.
Put it in the postion you intend to have it as it is not easy to move once assembled. Secure the rod through the drainage hole of the largest pot, I used large stones to jam it in. Fill with compost and firm down. Slide on the second pot and fill with compost , this pot will rest partly on the compost of the bottom one. The others will balance on the rim of the previous pot. It is easier to fill with compost and firm down as you go.
I toyed with the idea of filling them with strawberry plants but then opted for pansies. My sister made one and put a terracotta jug on the top, the top pot is not crucial as there is nothing else resting on it so it could be anything. the finished project is a lovely focal point for any part of the garden.
The photos have not loaded up in the correct order but you get the idea!

I've had an idea for several years for a floral water feature, this might just be what I need for the natural part of the look. Unfortunately, it won't be this year until the house extension gets finished.
