I’ve planted three snowdrop bulbs in each of the little plastic pots - 40 altogether. Once they have developed good root systems I will plant them out - probably some where I’ve naturalized bulbs in grass beside the lawn and maybe others in clumps.
The big ceramic pots contain Erythronium pagoda. I bought 20 bulbs and underplanted a small maple with some of them. The rest I have potted up until I can think of good locations. I made up a compost for them because they like moist woodland conditions: 1 part seived leaf mound, 1 part coarse grit, 2 parts g p potting compost. I find it impossible to buy horticultural grit here. However, with a bit of enterprise, a bucket and shovel and a nice place to walk/swim the dog, it’s surprising what I could achieve this morning! Isnt that a gorgeous view? I walk there every Friday.
I look forward to updating this with photos of flowers, next year.
