This is growing on the side of the road close to me. it looks really nice and I was wondering what its called.

Agreed, but, as there are several, I think you'll find this one is Rosebay Willow Herb?

Yep, Rosebay Willowherb, otherwise known as fireweed. It pops up on disturbed ground and grew on bomb sites during the war. Give it an inch and it takes a yard!
