Thought this article interesting but would have concerns about trees standing in water for prolonged time as I always believed it effected the roots of some trees, but not Almonds?

There s a place not far from here, Blaney, that floods on a regular basis, sometimes for weeks on end. Right in the middle of this low-lying area is a clump of hawthorns. They have been putting up with this for years and seem fine with it.
As for almonds - we once stayed with friends who had moved to the mountains in Southern Spain. It was February and surprisingly cold. One morning we woke up to what I thought was multicoloured snow. It was snow and almond blossom! Now if our apples got caught in such cold at blossom time, we would probably have no fruit. But I was told the cold snap had no effect on the almonds.
I wish I could grow them here (successfully!) I love almonds. _________________ Be humble, for you are made of earth
