A quick first post from me to introduce myself.
I currently live in Hull (England), but moving over with the family to Ireland in September/October.
Having had an allotment for the last 8 years - I'm absolutely gutted to be giving it up at the end of the Summer, but hopefully find somewhere in Ireland over time.
Anyway, enough of my ramble - I've been reading a few of the threads on here, and looking forward to participate.
Regards, Kevin |

Welcome along Kevin. Which part of the emerald are you going to and do you hope to have your own plot or another allotment? _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. Cheers tagwex.
I've updated my profile to include our new location.
We will be moving in with my partner's mother until we get sorted.
Anyway, ideally - I'd love to get an allotment somewhere in that area.
Until then, it will mainly be pots, containers and bucket growing for me. |

Hi kindredspirit & Greengage.
Greengage - I've looked at that allotment site and contacted them by email a few weeks. No reply as yet.
I'll be over in a couple of months for a visit prior to moving - so might pop along and see them.
There are also the Turvey Allotments in Donabate - council run. I might go along and see what the vacancy situation is like there. |

Kevin, you may find that you'll have to get used to emails getting ignored by certain elements of your soon to be adopted society. As you suggest, a personal approach by you or your partner's family (even better) might be the better option. After all, they'll have the time prior to your visit to put out feelers for you? _________________ A novice gardener on newly cultivated, stoney ground. |
