This is Picea glauca ‘Conica’ commonly known as the ‘Dwarf Alberta spruce’.

_______________________________________________________________
This conical or pyramidal shaped dwarf tree reaches an ultimate height of 1.5 metres (5 ft) and had a spread at the base of 0.6 metre (24 inches), all this usually takes about 35 years.
So it’s slow growing, its also low maintenance requiring only to removal of stray side shoots to maintain the tight conical habit.
The spruce has stiff needle-like green leaves which totally cover the branches.
This conifer commonly used as a formal specimen close to the house or seating area, it is also employed in rockeries to give some winter body.
I have even seen it planted as a permanent Christmas tree near the front door of a house, the green needle laden branches bedecked with lights to brighten it up.
Dwarf alberta spruce care.
Give the ‘Dwarf Alberta spruce’ a position in full sun with some protection from cold winds and it will repay you with its year round presence.
It has a good success rate as a semi mature root-balled planting and is frost hardy.
