I really don't know what Wagtix is on about.
Doesn't look like a lichen to me. If it's on dead wood I'd say it's definitely a fungus but I'm no mycologist! I don't know if it might be a problem one.

It was on last be wood....removing an old Grisllinea hedge and just saw this on one of the hedge plants....
But I know nothing about fungi so there is part curiosity and part caution about my enquiry......
