Hi,
I bought a bag of Humbert Palmers No. 13 fertiliser 14-6-8 for my lawn, as recommended by the company I purchased the turves from. Had to buy a 25kg back for my 40 sq m lawn so it should last me a long time! Anyway, I can't seem to get a definitive answer on how much to apply per square metre and how regularly I should apply it (every 6 weeks?). Can anyone give me a guide? I'm awaiting a call back from Humbert Palmers in the UK but am anxious to put it down before the rain comes so it'll wash in. Thanks. [/code] |

I would go easy on that an not put it on every 6 weeks unless you have a silage pit and lots of cattle to feed.
Anyway,It is a granual that can be applied by hand or spreader.
An application range 25 - 35 grams per square metre should do.
Being a garnual it should dissolve into the lawn to prevent collection by the mower No watering should be required if soil moisture is available
It can be applied before or after rain and it is reccommended to apply between March and August. its your lawn and people will dissagree with me teling you the nitrogen will get washed out by rain etc so you better have a good mower and working properly as you will be cutting a lot. |

Thanks v much Greengage for your fast reply; the info is exactly what I was looking for. Reason I'm anxious for it to dissolve into the lawn is my 3 year old likes playing out there and though it's organic I still don't want him picking up the pellets. I'll apply it now, just hope that herd of cows from a nearby farm don't get word I'll be putting it down! |
