I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to all this and didn't really know about the whole bare root season. In my naivety I purchased some bare root privet online a week ago and planted them. Only then did I learn about the need to plant bare roots while dormant.
I'm surprised that an online plant website would sell these bare roots as late as early May without any kind of warning.
Some of the plants looked brown and dried out while others had small green leaves beginning to grow. I planted them all to see what happens but I'm guessing most of these hedges will fail?
Is there any chance they will be okay?
When should I start pruning? I'm not sure when you are supposed to start pruning newly planted bare root |
