Hello everyone
My name is Alan Fletcher. I am new enough to gardening and am new to this forum. I mainly grow flowers but grow some veg. Last year i bought and put in a 6 by 3 metre polytunnel and built some shelves to put into it. All is going well so far. I also have a small plot to grow vegetables so i mostly am a container gardener 😛. I have added some photos of my polytunnel and shelves let me know what ye think.
Bye for now
Alan

Hello Alan, and welcome.
Your tunnel and shelving are impressive - well done. Is most of the material in the tunnel going to be planted out in a flower garden, later? If so, you will have loads of space in there for veg. The tunnel seems to be on soil - it is much easier to look after veg and keep it watered and fed if it is in soil rather than containers. A one-board-high raised bed running each side of the tunnel would hold a lot of stuff.

You seem to have a space about 4ft wide and the length of the tunnel, beside it, which could grow a lot. Do you have more space available as well?

All the best with this. I hope you enjoy the forum - it's a bit of crack as well as a great source of information.

Hi Alan, well that is certainly packed in and intensive, if only I was as advanced as that. I had every intention of having a polytunnel for this spring but alas I just cannot find the time to put it together. All the materials have been here for months.

Thanks lads.
Goodguy i have a bit more ground away from the tunnel for veg. All the flowers go into various gardens and boxes for graves windows etc.
Alan

Standing room only. Razz
Impressive how you packed them all in there Alan.
Did you think about applying some sort of preservative to the benches as I'd say watering run off may rot them over time.

All preserved james ☺ 4 inch high boxes btween shelves for plants aswell and enough room under side shelves fr lettuce and under middle and back shelves fr cabbage. All ground has been fertilised with organic waste and compost. Ya my uncles are next door and between us we sow and tend the veg in the gardens. They have alot more room than me for veg.
Alan

Good stuff, Alan.
Yourself and your uncle have a good little co-op going there.
