If it is a nest which it sounds like it could be where the verse says holds pale gems of blue. The only blue bird I know is the blue tit

Blackbird's nest.

Both close, but not what I was thinking of.

Well I said blue tit which is the only blue bird I know so I presume its blue eggs. You've said no to blackbird and the only other blue egg layer I know of is a robin

the puzzle was.....

I am a house hidden from view.
I am built without nails or glue.
I exist to hold pale gems of blue.
Look me up if you need a clue.
What am I?

Robin it is, as its eggs are quiet pale blue, plus they are small like gems.
Well done.
