Thanks for your input, HFK. It's always good to know what others think. I must have a look at the Boards.ie gardening section - I didn't know about it. The idea of less sections is good, I think. I must say I enjoy the occasionally anarchic goings-on here, though. There's too much 'serious' about!

Are you reading these posts, James?

It is not a matter of reading them but morelike doing something about it I would think. This thread is more than a year old and a mini revolution was sort of promised but to date..... nothing.

Got it in one! I think a lot of people were p****d off at the failure to carry out any of the promises of reform after the last election.

Taking it all in folks, thanks.
The cutting down of the quantity of subsections is long overdue and we should have some movement on that shortly.

This actual thread has gone to sleep, but the lack of activity in recent time may well be a symptom of the same problem? I invite anyone who's interested to take on board the initial feelings of 'Kim' who doesn't seem to be around any more? See the first two pages.

Most of the replies were of the 'Oh. Get used to it.' flavour but, for some, they'd prefer a more dignified/civilised forum. This puts me in mind of a theory put forward at a sales training session I attended once, i.e. An employer is obliged to go through a set of disciplinary hearings and warnings before ultimately terminating your employment. A customer can give you instant dismissal!

I rather think that the ever decreasing band of contributors may, sadly, have imploded on itself as increasing numbers have voted with their feet?

All forums on the web are seeing decreasing traffic due to Farcebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc, etc.

I don't do Farcebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc etc, so you are stuck with me Very Happy

Actually just found out I wasn't swiping my phone right when I was getting incoming calls (dur). I tried everything short of dropping it on the floor and jumping on it. So I'm just happy with 'old-fashioned' forums!

I did join IG several months before I uttered a peep. When I tried so send my first post it wouldn't recognise me and I had to rejoin. So that accounts for one missing member.

Another forum I'm on regularly has folks who post saying they have been following for a while but not contributing until they have a specific problem or question. Sometimes they stay, sometimes we answer a question and never hear from them again. That's just the way of things.

While it would be nice to hear from new folks, I kinda like the old crowd.

OK. But by my powers of observation, apart from an entry in the 'Joke' section, I can't ever remember a time when the last post would have been 5 days previously, i.e. 9 Sept in this case, so it would suggest something is different. However, if everyone's happy, including James, we needn't concern ourselves.
