This is sort of a before and after. The first was my own attempt but the stones were beginning to sink.



This is how it looks now, with decking tarp under it to stop it sinking.



Any advice on how to make it look better?[/img]

I see two photos no problem.
Too late now but here goes. You should have dug out all the topsoil and replaced it with a weak sand/cement dry mix and placed the stone slabs into that. By doing it that way then they wouldn't have sunk. The tarp will not stop it from sinking again.
Just out of interest, a path should lead you somewhere, where does this one go?

lol it leads you under thel washing line so your feet dont get muddy. I knew we should have got cement but himself has to hear it from a bloke yknow
Rolling Eyes I might extend it to go round the raised bed actually (if we get cement!) cos you're right it looks pants at the mo
