This perennial normally grows about 2m tall. It has fleshy rhizome-type roots and is quite invasive. It flowers now. This specimen is only about 1m high because I've given it some serious competition. It thrives in an open, sunny position and doesn't seem fussy as to soil type, just reasonably well drained. It's another one I got years go from a long-abandoned garden.

Got it in one, I think, Silversurfer. Well done. That rhizome looks just like what I dug up when I relocated the plant. It's a lovely plant if you've loads of space to fill; the foliage is very attractive for months.. And the flowers can add another note to the late-season 'blaze' of colour.
