|
Just wanted to say hello to everyone on the forum.
I'm living in county Roscommon, just on the mayo and Galway border.
I've been looking around this forum for a while and everyone is very helpful and knowledgable.
I've always had a keen interest in gardening but never had a lot of space until recently.
I'm very interested in growing under cover but it's new to me. I may be asking for advice and help.
I just started building a wooden geodesic dome that I'm hoping to have finished for winter so I can have a little retreat for myself during the cold months.
Looking forward to getting to know you all _________________ Tommy K |

Welcome TMAK, I hope you enjoy the forum; do post some photos of the geodesic dome as it progresses, it is always fascinating to see what people make in their gardens. Good luck with your gardening ! |

Thanx good guy and sive.
I'll definitely post some pictures.
It could be a slow process building it, but I'll get there in the end _________________ Tommy K |

Hello TMAK, glad to have you along, stay awhile and ignore geranimojess when he comes along. You will find out why for yourself soon enough!!!
That dome sounds interesting, plenty of complicated cuts. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”

Thanx tagwex, I'll keep an eye out for geranimojess.
Ya there are a lot of awkward angles. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible and have came up with a plan, just hoping it works for me. I haven't seen it done this way anywhere so fingers crossed.
I'll be looking for ideas for heating it in the winter if anyone has any suggestions. I have a few plans, but I'll start a new thread on all that once I get a bit more of the woodwork done _________________ Tommy K |

Measure three times and cut once! What timber are you using? Buy it well before you want to start and give it a good chance to dry out, you really don't want shrinkage cracks to show after doing all that careful measuring and complicated joint making. _________________ “It’s my field. Also, don't ask good guy for any advice on things mathematical, angles, distances etc. he is hopeless. _________________ “It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it!”
