http://www.gardenplansireland.com/forum/about204.html says privet is evergreen. Other sites say semi evergreen . Is it evergreen in Ireland?

A friend of mine has a privet and it loses leaf in winter

depending on the weather if its very mild winter it will retain some leaves otherwise it can be naked
