Right so millions of these 1/2" hooked flowers make up a carpet, yes?

Yes...it IS a flower.
Yes ...there are lots of them.

Now what do they grow on?
Definitely not on carpets.

Animal, vegetable or mineral???
Clue .....it would come under vegetable...in the wider sense.
Not animal.
Not mineral.

Of the 3... it is not animal or mineral...so that just leaves vegetable.
ie anything that grows.
I did not literally mean carrot , leeks, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, peas etc.etc

It is a FLOWER!
