those little nuggets of wisdom and folklore you hear which you're extremely dubious about.
such as: my father-in-law is a great fan of the 'pour diesel over that leylandii stump to kill it and rot it'; i've never tried it but a) leylandii doesn't grow back from a stump anyway, b) rotting is a biological process and diesel is hardly going to accelerate it, and c) why in god's name would i want to pollute my garden with a carcinogenic hydrocarbon? |

Following a Funeral I attended of a Friend last Nov'...I received a little Card with this Poem written on it...knowing his love of the Garden I thought it appropriate...

A local farmer whose cows got on my newly sown lawn said to me when I tackled him about it 'grass is for fodder what do you want a garden for!' You can guess what the area around his house is like.  |
