Ireland had an entry at this year's show in Toronto and was featured on morning television talking up the number of very large gardens open to the public for touring. Lovely display.
Here's the video: http://vimeo.com/61932016
Special features this year were helebores which surpassed the masses of tulips that are the norm for spring. Emphasis on combination potting. Less over the top displays by the big vendors like Home Depot and more scaled down to suit landscaping trade. Seems that more people are investing in the greenscaping of their homes as Toronto becomes hugely hot for real estate.
Especially my favorite were the outdoor structures, one a sweat lodge which would be great for listening to music and reading or having a party with cooking feature in the middle.
Big Japanese gardening push with oriental influences, bamboos and exotics.
Trying again with agapanthus to establish. Takes at least 4 years to get a good mound going and needs mulching to survive winters. |
