Hello to all -
I'm new - of course - to this forum and relatively new to Ireland, having relocated here from the US a couple of years ago. But I've gardened all my life.
I'm presently "pushing dirt" on the gentle slope behind my home, setting up a level floor for a 4 x 6 metre polytunnel, and an adjacent 6 x 10 metre area of open beds. As very good fortune would have it, I have good thick dirt with good tilth at a ph of 5.75 to 6.0, so it doesn't look like I'll need to do any really heavy soil building to get things started. The compost bins I started last summer are full of black gold.
After some research, I found several good Irish sources for organic seed - very nearly all non F1 hybrid (hooray!) - and made my best guesses at varieties I thought would do well.
However, I do live in "cloud country" . . . well up in the hills just to the East of Caherciveen on the Iveragh, and am wondering if I have any organic neighbors nearby.
regards,
John |

Welcome John, I hope you're surviving our "interesting" weather....you'll never be bored by it, for something different happens every few minutes ! Anyway you're in a beautiful part of the country and I hope you enjoy the forum. We're all a bit waterlogged at the moment so not a lot going on ! |
